Bella Hadid is back in New York City and noticed some New York Police Department officers ignoring the city’s guidelines that residents wear masks out in public in situations where they can’t keep six feet apart from other people. The model posted two shots of mask-less officers huddled together, writing, “WEAR A MASK. u look goofy.”
In a second photo, she wrote: “WEAR A MASK. hi @nypd masks are for all of our safety, not just urs…:)” In the shot, she can be seen flipping off the officers.
“I miss smiling at people,” she said. “I miss hugging, a lot. I miss walking around and listening to music. It’s different when you’re in the city. You can walk forever—going nowhere and somehow still feeling like you’ve got somewhere to be.”
Hadid also spoke to ELLE about what she considers her responsibility to young people as a woman in the spotlight. “I have so much responsibility to use my platform for good, especially as I get older,” she said. “I want young girls and boys to know that it is okay to use your voice and demand justice for what is important to you. I want them to know it’s okay to be empathetic and gentle, but to be strong and speak your truth at the same time.”
